At North Star Therapy, we love our work!

We are thoughtful and passionate about learning, teaching, helping and having fun along the way.

Lindsay Gervino, LMHC & Founder

After 15 wonderful and successful years, Lindsay left the corporate world, in a quest for more purpose.  Happy to report, she found purpose and so much more!

Lindsay whole-heartedly believes that being a licensed mental health counselor is both an honor and a privilege, a responsibility that she does not take lightly.  Lindsay takes clinical, ethical, and/or legal continuing education courses on a monthly basis.  She combines her education, experiences and inherent compassion into every session. She builds rapport and connection by normalizing and/or validating many of our shared struggles, especially the ones we don't typically talk about, or stigmatize.  She's dedicated to building a "brave space", a space where clients feel comfortable as their true selves and sharing information they hold onto tightly.  Once a connection is formed, we move into psychoeducation and skill building activities. Therapy is both a science and an art.  It's a beautiful dance.  As challenges arise in the client's life, we pivot, prioritize and dive in.

As a way to relate, Lindsay shares several lived experiences that may resonate with others.  Lindsay grew up with several adverse childhood experiences.  As an adolescent, she struggled with body image, disordered eating and over-exercising.  As an adult, she experienced several miscarriages, before becoming a parent to two humans.  At age 36, Lindsay survived a rare and deadly type of heart attack, called Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) and is an active advocate for women's heart health today.

In addition to her clinical work experience, Lindsay is certified as an Intuitive Eating Counselor, Be Body Positive Facilitator, DBT Skills Group Leader, and yoga teacher.

Lindsay works with adolescents and adults (occasionally with children).  Her caseload typically is an even split of people who identify as male and female.
